Nulvarith, The Shattered Realm

Atop the landmass known as Nulvarith Prime, a nefarious wizard has erected a tower from which he commands a crew of unwitting lackeys. A pair of antagonistic interstellar couriers argue over jurisdictions. A race of mouthless alien gardeners tend to the delicate ecosystem. No one is quite sure how this world was destroyed, but it's clear there are valuable secrets in the wreckage. Can your players make strategic alliances while surviving threats that linger in the arcane miasma? Or will they perish in the mines or in the maw of a cosmic dragon?

Nulvarith is a zany setting, a mash-up of pulpy mythic fantasy, sci-fi intrigue, and moral parable. Best of all, you can run it your way by choosing one of four roles for your party of adventurers. Are they witless freelancers working for the archmage? Terrestrial explorers? Space voyagers? Or couriers with the interdimensional postal agency LIMINA?

As your players explore Nulvarith, they're likely to do any of the following:

  • Conquer the archmage's enchanted tower
  • Discover haunting spirits in the mines
  • Fight a leafy cosmic dragon
  • Reveal the secret of how this—and many other worlds—fell to chaos

Maps

Nulvarith is one of our strangest maps. The focus is the shattered realm's largest landmass, the floating rock known as Nulavrith Prime. In the upper left, a wizard tower and the archmage's teleportation device. Nearby, you'll find the adventurer habitat and the entrance to the mines. LIMINA Wayfinder Nanni Ya-Faen has docked her airship on the underbelly of the stone. In the far corner, the mouthless sliverlings have a tiny village their own surrounding a powerful crystal.

We have interiors maps for every single space you see here: run dungeons through multiple floors of the wizard tower or three levels of the mine. Explore the Wingroot League's habitat or any of the sliverling hut's. Finally, snoop on Agent Ondell Pinsk in his simple tent, but keep your eyes peeled for secrets!

Run Nulvarith your way with our extensive mixture of variant maps. Run canonical adventures by using our storm or storm aftermath variants. Or, you can completely change up the vibe by transporting Nulvarith underwater, into a desert, or into a maximally spooky realm. Finally, delete the whole "shattered realm" vibe and just stick the whole setting on a traditional asteroid.

Music

Nulvarith's music is appropriately a mixture of sci-fi and fantasy vibes. Tracks like "Archmage" highlight the archmage's influence, while crunchier tunes like "Destabilizers" or "A Thankless Job" lean more toward synth-heavy action.
